Message from Dr Anwar Nasim
I am very pleased to learn that Pakistan Biological Safety Association has been established. The potential threats to human population from different sources are a matter of great concern. This century has been designated as century of biology. As a result of the revolutionary breakthroughs in biotechnology, and Genetic Engineering the enhanced capability of scientists to manipulate genetic material has posed many questions related to biosecurity and biosafety. The formation of this society will provide a powerful platform, not only to address these problems but also help develop effective strategies to cope with future threats. In Pakistan there was a real need for a group like this. I am indeed pleased that many committed scientists have joined together to fulfill this need. I wish you all success and will be always more than happy to assist and cooperate in all possible ways.
